Where the Falcon Flies: A 3,400 Kilometre Odyssey From My Doorstep to the Arctic by Adam Shoalts
4.0
Wow. This was incredible. Both the motivation to undertake a 3,400km journey to the Arctic, but even more the kindness and generosity of the people he met along the way. It seemed luck was definitely on his side as in moments on the edge of dehydration or running out of food kind strangers crossed his path offering water, snacks and encouragement. Reading about this journey offers perspective on how majority of people live everyday, usually in urban areas, digitally connected etc. vs this immersion in nature with only basic needs. The Afterword brought up the key points that to save wildlife in Canada's North we must also save wildlife in the South. The Land and us are all interconnected, conservation needs to happen everywhere.
