What a great book! People always talk about Stephen King like he's some sort of storytelling god, but I hadn't quite gotten that reading the Dark Tower. Sure, the storytelling has been good and he clearly has a big overarching narrative, but until this book it wasn't clear just how good this series could be. Wizard in Glass wasn't bad, but I didn't find it as good as I expected. Here, everything comes together. Every character is properly represented and gets time to shine. Susannah is definitely the weakest character of the group in this book, but hopefully she will be redeemed soon. The only big letdown in this book is the ending,
we wait so long for this big showdown at the end but it is completely anti-climactic.
Guidall's narration is also superb--everything had such deep feeling.
