Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery
5.0
What a wonderful ending to the Anne of Green Gables series. I'm so thrilled that I finally finished it. Anne's daughter, Rilla, is clearly the main character in this book. I love her character arch throughout the novel. She starts off as a self-centered, vain, but lovable teenager and grows into a responsible, compassionate woman by the end. This one felt more like historical fiction than any of the others because the main portion of the book is all about WWI and it's affects on those who stay behind, mainly the women. I think this is the only one in the series that made me cry! It still has much of the charm of the previous books, but I felt like it also had a bit more depth too. Highly recommend reading this series!
