Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins

3.0

Type of read: Commuter Read.

What made me pick it up: Rachel Hawkins has quickly become a favorite author and as I was going through available audiobooks by them, this popped up.

Overall rating: This was such a different Hawkins than I'm used to but I'm not mad at it. Definitely a bit more YA. 'Her Royal Highness' is like bisexual Princess Diaries meets Emily in Paris meets every unsuspecting girl falls in love with undercover prince Hallmark movie that's ever been made. That being said...I enjoyed this one. It was simple, a bit predictable, but a good detox from the more serious and heavy books I've been reading lately. I do agree with some of the other reviewers when they mentioned that the time and cadence of the book are off. Honestly, there was a part about 2/3 of the way through where I thought the book was just going to end, I was very confused about how the story was going to keep moving...but it did. Overall, not mad at it, but wouldn't recommend it as anything groundbreaking.
