Spinning Silver
by Naomi Novik
The long-awaited Spinning Silver. This is a fantasy retelling of Rumpelstilskin, adding in some other elements of folklore, and I think specifically Russian folklore. We follow multiple perspectives and at first it’s a bit difficult to find out who was talking as there are no headers or distinctions. I enjoyed this story, though some things I thought were developing… never actually happened? Or at least not in the way I thought it would? I know, vague, but I don’t want to spoil things, obviously. I still enjoyed it a lot, it doesn’t match Uprooted in my love for it, but still a fun and addictive read.
