A Game of Retribution by Scarlett St. Clair

3.0

3.5

This book was a bit... 'eh', to be honest. There were some really good inclusions and choices, but they felt too few and far between to have much of an effect on my rating. The other books are definitely better, in my opinion.

One segment that was amazingly captivating was the fight night! Hades was so smart and creative! St. Clair painted the scene really well and it included some really great writing and ideas. It reminded me a bit of the scene in A Court of Thorns and Roses where Feyre fights the Middengard Wyrm. The comparison and similarity is made even better by the fact that Hades offers a "vulgar gesture" to Hera haha. Another thing I enjoyed was the tripling (a staple for this author!) and the humour; some of the lines were genuinely hilarious.

Side note: I love findings words or phrases that authors unintentionally use all the time! In this book, it is the word chasm haha.

End note: this is something I wanted to note because I know it's interesting and important for some readers... the spicy scenes are much more detailed.
