Beaver Dick definitely had the "exotic" people fetish.  I think the author could have made his character more uncomfortable to represent that.  Besides that, the book was okay and explained how people should not use the excuse of personal conflict to attack others.  Other than the ideas of found family, overcoming loss, and understanding the white people's invasion of North America, the book did not address many other things.  It was not great but it was not terrible.
