The Pet Shop by K.D. Grace

3.0

Spoilers - 3.5 stars mainly because some things made me feel super uncomfortable. The main one being that everything was a set up for this woman to be a worker there. But it left me thinking, why the fuck does she have to go through all that to run your business? The chick who's running it now wasn't a pet, a handler maybe but not a pet. But they set it up using her attraction to Tino, by sending her t see the Pet in his human time to make her feel like she had to do it to be closer to him.

They all knew her feelings (crazily in love with someone she demeans as a glorified prostitute, even after being told pets pay to be pets, never speaking to him and just fucking him), yet pushed her in that direction. When she claims she wants out, the handlers push her anyway and tell her Tino's joining her for her handler visit. For real? If you tell someone if they talk they're pulling out, then when they do tell them they're silly, you're completely unprofessional.

It looks incredibly like they groomed her into the lifestyle even if she enjoyed it. I mean sure, she liked being a handler and playing a pet with him too, but then to be a pet? A lot of it really is just convincing her and letting her agree to it later, but because of the fact they talked about knowing her answers and stuff, and keeping things from her specifically, it just felt wrong to me.

If those people were the bad guys, I wouldn't have had a problem, but it's kind of just washed over in the end with I love you's and everything was a little predictable in terms of plot development as you went along.

However, that isn't to say the erotic element is fucking the bomb. It's good, great, fantastic. There's many different types of interactions including an orgy outside for everyone to see, and the pet thing still isn't a bad thing to be reading. It was really the plot development and how things panned out that left me hesitant to like to book. I'm super against lying to people if you want something from them, and literally the whole book is a lie while they groom her, just to run the a pet shop. I still can't get over it honestly..
