I was really excited to start reading this one. I knew it could only get better from the last one and it had left me wanting to know what would happen next. I was definitely not disappointed.

The Ascension series keeps building and this one puts a lot of the pieces together with a few more twists of course. Where Rule by Steel focused more on Hell this one was more about Heaven.

I was really glad to read more about James and what his goal is. I felt like he was just "the bad guy" in the last few books and this one gave him some motivation. It also brought Rylie and Elise closer together as they were forced to work together. The understanding of Elise's demon needs also increased in this book which made her hunger more understanding. Grief was also expressed really well in Abel and his wanting to do anything to get his brother back even give up his mate and life if that is what it would take.

This book is well written and addicting like the other books in the Descent Series, Seasons of the Moon, the Cain Chronicles and the Ascension Series.
