After being pushed out of his nest by his brother Kludd, Barn Owlet Soren is taken to St. Aggie's. St. Aggie's is a school for orphaned owls but something isn't right about it. The orphans aren't allowed to ask questions and if they do, they are punished. Soren meets Gylfie, an Elf Owl and together they plan to escape. The problem? They don't know how to fly. An owl named Grimble teaches them how to fly and they manage to escape. The books ends when Soren and Gylfie start their journey to the Great Ga'Hoole tree, but they don't know if the legendary tree actually exists.
This is a wonderful series. Fans of Warriors by Erin Hunter will definitely love it.
