The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

4.0

Completely adored this novel. I live Dumas' style, narration and sense of humour. His descriptions are full and the characters come alive with both their faults and valour and most of all their quirks. I also love the humourous angle he nareates two centuries back, and how he used this story to give due to a father who though once renown as a general was cast aside for his race and who like him wore Dumas his grandmother's slave name proud instead of his noble name he was born to, and was quick to meet anyone who insulted him, it did not keep him from being disparaged and his biracial identity downplayed, he in turn wrote The Count of Monte Cristo a man who sought revenge for the deeds against him. I have mych more research and analysis to go and will give more thoughts later.
