An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
5.0
I absolutly adored this book. It's everything I want in a fantasy novel: a stunning world, with all the good and all the bad as well as all the grey bits and pieces inbetween. While I saw some developments coming, others left me stunned.
There is romance in this one but - and I love Sabaa Tahir for that - not a single character is solely slave to it. There is Hel who sacrifices a lot and there is Laia who certaintly feels attracted to more than one person, but that's not the only thing they are.
There is fighters and not-so-much-fighters, small and big monsters, kindess and sadness and cruelty.
I'm in love with this book.
