I can’t decide between 4 or 5 stars. Machado writes so well about the more subtle effects of abuse, and the difficulty of dealing with emotional abuse hen there isn’t physical evidence, something you can point to that says “she hurt me”. Further she talks poignantly about the difficulty queer people face in having their experiences heard and believed. The format is also interesting, very imaginative. It is an interesting book and something that will stay with me.
