Red Mist by Patricia Cornwell

Not sure how I missed this one in the actual reading order. Maybe it was because I was over the over drama, vindictive, dark & aggressive turn these later books have turned into.

I have to say, I'm glad I took the time to listen to this one. While it definitely has it's moments of being irritating, I actually really enjoyed this one. In a moment of ... I'm going to do things my way, and you can't tell me what to do Benton ... Kay finds herself in Georgia, fresh off of Dawn Kincaid's attempted murder and the death of Jack Fielding. Smack dab where forces in play, that she wasn't aware of, want her.

A shady warden, Jamie Berger, and suspicious deaths that lead to a serial poisoner. I loved the local medical examiner Colin Dengate. The door was left open for a possible reappearance. I hope so, because he works well with Kay.
