Meet Lenore.  She's been wed to Henry for a decade.  While not a happy marriage, the two have built a life together based on a past incident.  The book starts as they go to the countryside for a hunting party and come across Camilla in the rain on the way to the country estate.

As Lenore gets to know Camille, her life unravels as she begins to realize she has her own needs and desires outside of Henry's.

This book is a perfect gothic horror.  The reader doesn't know what might happen next, but this limited first-person work is a beautiful retelling of the original novella.  I loved the use of language and the narrator kept my attention.  I did find a few sections of the book dragged, which is why I didn't rate it higher than 4.
