Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
5.0
What a marvelous collection of short stories. Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah took me on some infuriating journeys, reflecting how class, race, and consumerism have shaped the way we live. I felt myself pausing as each story concluded, thinking 1) how did he do that?!; and 2) what an amazing way to tell that story. Adjei-Brenyah delivers all this and more heart-wrenching, hilarious, and thoughtful stories which make his collection highly recommended.
A special mention for 'The Finkelstein 5'. A painful and powerful story holding up a mirror to the cruel, racially prejudiced, US justice system. That story hurt my soul.
