Ripper by Isabel Allende
2.0

Isabel Allende is one of my favorite authors. I have read everything she has ever published (after it gets translated into English). Her writing is fluid and dreamlike and it's one of my favorite things in the world.

But it doesn't really lend itself to a mystery novel.

Her other books are just as violent. Just as sexy. Crime fiction just doesn't work for her style, at least for me. I had pretty well figured out three main perpetrators by the middle of the book, and I was pretty damn close on two accounts.

So. I mean....
Maybe I just don't like crime novels, even when one of my favorites attempts it.
