Beautifully written with both compassion and some humor, this story explores the issue of childhood hunger in a way that even young children can understand and relate to. Through the lens of Maddi and Sofia's friendship, the author touches on themes of friendship, loyalty, and caring. Will definitely be reading this with my second grade class as we get ready for our annual canned food drive.
