Carter Matteo Dominick! FINALLY!!!
From book 1 of this series I’ve been waiting obsessively for Carters story and after all this time it did not disappoint!
Carter has been an intriguing character from the start and I’m glad we got to go back in time and see the development of his character that we’ve come to know in this series. The evolution and character arc of Carter from before his wife’s death to present time was emotionally charged and realistic in the most amazing way. We finally understand his motives, his thoughts and his inner struggle with finding and accepting the real/new him.
Going to the FMC Diana, I’m SO happy it was a new character we haven’t met before and not one of Carter’s previous relations. This made the most sense to me and was hoping this was the case before the book even released. Diana is a self assured, kind and brilliant woman who is strong and resilient and the perfect equal for Carter.
Not only was their chemistry sizzling but their relationship/their friendship alliance from when they first met continued and grew as time moved on. They bring the best out of eachother and allow the space and freedom to find themselves in a safe and supportive relationship (which both strongly deserve after all they been through).
The action plotline had twists, turns and secrets that still leave this series (but not couple) on a cliffhanger. I’m impatiently waiting to see how it wraps up and how are love/hate Oliver and Mya storyline goes.
Tropes:
- Age Gap
- Nerdy FMC
- Right person wrong time
- Military/Special Forces Romance
- Widower
