Romancing the Werewolf by Gail Carriger

A new Alpha for a new Age.
I think I literally screamed when I realized this book existed. I read The Parasol Protectorate back in 2012 and Lyall and Biffy were two of my favourite characters, and when they developed a romantic relationship I was delighted. Then Timeless happened and I cried for them - I knew they would theoretically get a happy ending, but to not have that on page made me sad.

And now I could finally read them getting back together in their very own hilarious and wonderful book!

I do love this book - but it did not meet my expectations.
For a book called Romancing the Werewolf there is very little romance. There's a lot of pining for each other and navigating through their new positions and expectations and feelings, but all that felt a bit secondary to the plot of the novella. I was a little bit disappointed - I would have like for their feelings to be the main focus.

That said, I absolutely adored the plot. I won't say much about it as to not spoil the novella, but I enjoyed the thematic as well as meeting the entire London pack as individual characters. I also liked reading about Biffy struggling with being Alpha and the dynamic he has with his pack, and of course Lyall finding a happy, loving partner after so many years of pain.
