snukes 's review for:
The Running Grave
by Robert Galbraith
There will always be a special place in my heart for novels about winning against cults - getting out of cults and especially bringing cults to their knees. It's the best kind of fantasy.
But truly, this one was gripping from beginning to end. It's been a long time since I've found myself itching to finish with Bothersome Human Activities so that I could get back to a book. The bits toward the end of Robin's stay with the UHC had me experiencing physical anxiety. I think the author nailed the psychological chaos that accompanies time inside high-control groups and also the difficulties of breaking away, even after so short a time in and with such a conscious effort not to get entangled.
