The retelling of Beauty and the Beast was magnificent and really makes you nostalgic, like rewatching the movie. However, where the movie ends, the book continues, and there is a stark contrast between how the characters are meant to be and how the author changes them. Belle, known for her maturity and wit, becomes a high-school cliche teen, while the beast, previously brooding and mysterious, matches the same energy. It’s like the book immediately flipped from a Beauty and the Beast retelling to a cliche love thriller for middle-schoolers. All in all, I wound up disappointed
