Persuasion by Jane Austen
3.0
Better than P and J. Gave so much The Story of Us by Taylor Swift vibes. There were more social problems and discrimination that was discussed—even a whole new side if I may say. Also it even talked a bit about the Navy.
The romance is so much better because you can actually feel the tension between these two, especially towards the end. I find myself grinning like an idiot with how these things were narrated and I didn’t actually think that I was really going to be having a great time reading.
Well, it wasn’t that I had a blast, but I did enjoy nonetheless.
The plot was simple, and a little bit of a melodrama. The twist at the end about Mr. Elliot and how it all tied up with another character was great.
I am not really an Austen fan—or maybe I’m just not a fan of Classics Romance genre because all this conservative way of living is just not cutting it for me. All that restraint—I have yet to encounter a narrative that would make me feel it so much.
All in all, pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking, I think.
P.S. Thank you, Sparknotes, for making my Classics reading journey slightly more enjoyable. I have yet to grab a book that would not make me want to read continuously without pausing to read from you just to check if I got it right. (or maybe I’m just dumb)
