The Silence in Her Eyes by Armando Lucas Correa

4.0

Man, what a roller coaster of a read.
The first half of the book is pretty solid in my opinion. I had a hard time putting it. However, past that point, it got a little rough. The pacing felt off. The story went off in a totally different direction. Not necessarily a bad thing but in this case, it just felt weird. Like the author just included a bunch of other stuff to fill out the pages and make it longer. Honestly, this would have been a killer novella; remove the last half of the book with the exception of the last chapter.
Also this book could have benefitted from some page breaks. I did read an ARC (that I won through goodreads!) so maybe they'll be there in the final print but the author would skip several days, sometimes weeks, from one paragraph to the next. I took me a couple sentences to realized we've jumped ahead in time.
I was sitting at a steady 4 stars on this book until that 50% mark. Then I dropped to 3 stars. But that last chapter. Man. 4 stars because he really wrapped it up good.
