The descriptions of the torture and murders in the massacred city are terribly horrific. Descriptions of sexual torture and r*pe are hard to read.
I can't say I enjoyed this book and I'm not sure it deserves 3 stars as I'm rather wishing I hadn't read the horrific war stuff. I don't know if I'll continue the series. I do want to read the author's next book, Katabasis, as I think it will follow more in the Babel line of her writing, which I liked. I didn't care for Yellowface, which was the first of her books that I read. So she seems to be hit and miss to me.
