Things We Didn't Talk about When I Was a Girl by Jeannie Vanasco
3.0
i really want to give it a 4 but theres something about memoirs. these are real people i cant talk about how the 'characters' are written, i cant talk about the writing style because the author is talking to me. I could mention the fact that the book gets repetitive at some point but it just brings me back to why i dont usually read memoirs. i feel like it isnt my place to judge them, to judge a persons experience or how they wish to write about it. it makes me feel like a bad person when i rate it as anything less than a 5.
well now that i got that out of the way; this was a powerful read. its interesting to see how the authors thoughts change over the course of the memoir. it was insightful to hear mark's perspective about how it effected him as the perpetrator of the crime but he sounded a lot more indifferent than i imagined. dont get me wrong, he sure did sound remorseful but...i dont know what im getting at.
