The Angel Makers: Arsenic, a Midwife, and Modern History's Most Astonishing Murder Ring by Patti McCracken

2.0

This was a disappointing read. How the author made a salacious, widespread, and true murder mystery somehow banal is surprising... though, I'll venture to say it has a lot to do with an over-emphasis on the mundanity of everyday details without ever really diving into overarching motive --or, "the Why?" Too coy in revealing key details, and also an odd obsession calling-out fatness. Read an article that outlines the historical account of the story and it will save you time and frustration.
