The Magic of Nature: Meditations & Spells to Find Your Inner Voice by Jessica Marie Baumgartner
Did not finish book.
1.0
I appreciate the desire to reconnect people to nature in response to its exploitation, but glamorizing it is not the answer. Within the first 13 pages of this book, the author tells the reader to walk into a field of tall grass as if ticks don't exist and, separately, to sit in the "cleansing" smoke of a campfire and breathe it in (?!). The spell on page 35 says the same thing and that "your head may tingle; let that feeling spread." No, please don't let oxygen deprivation spread, ffs.
The author makes vague, generic historical claims with no citations whatsoever.
For an imperfect but much more balanced and nuanced take on nature spirituality, read Starhawk's The Earth Path.
