ARGH!!!! elena greco WTF R U DOING?!?! dumbass….. the more i read this series, the more i’m enjoying ferrante’s honest and raw narrative, and her poignant observations of the world around her.

i did feel that the book shines when writing about lila - the action was more dynamic and the narrative felt more cohesive. when the narrator loses contact with lila and recounts her own experiences, she is a lot more dull and lost.

i found the exploration of how politics impacts the individual lives of young people really interesting, especially in the upheaval of the 80s in italy. however, i was quite lost when some of the political jargon got too heavy (and some conversations got a bit too confusing…. IM LOOKING AT YOU NINO…..)

the most frustrating bit is the last 20% of the book, where it feels like your friend is always going back and forth on a guy who treats her badly and decides to throw her life away to run after him again….. like bro WHY. anw this book ended on a cliffhanger and i will be promptly reading the next one, and i know she is gonna regret her dumbass decision!
