I had high hopes for this book but it fell short for me. I was so into the present and past back and forth and how the story was building up but ultimately, that's all it did. The ending felt contrived and with all the build up the story just sort of went off a cliff. There was a lot left unexplained. While there were some nostalgic parts to the story I enjoyed as a teen of the late 90s, the fun nostalgia did not outweigh the big gaps in the storyline.
