An Heiress's Guide to Deception and Desire
by Manda Collins
The romance was lacking between the main characters, if anything the love story between Kate and Eversham was much more realistic and touching. Also the whole kidnapping of the actress wasn’t very intriguing. I was pretty bored through out the book, but I kept reading in hopes that it would improve. It did not. Caro’s constant indignation at how women were treated was not at all believable if she were truly a Regency lady living in Regency England. I think that while she would disagree with it, she wouldn’t be so thoroughly modern in all of her behaviors and words. I felt like the author was trying to project modern attitudes onto supposedly Regency era characters and it just felt very unbelievable.
