Prudence Wants a Pet
by Cathleen Daly
Prudence wants a pet, but her mom and dad tell her no. Prudence tries to adopt various objects as pets, but it isn't the same. Finally, her parents buy her a kitten for her birthday. Children may appreciate Prudence's antics with twigs, branches and shoes as she searches for a pet. The book is an odd shape. It is short and long. It could be difficult for small children to hold the book or for a reader to hold the book and child on their lap together.
