Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches
by Audre Lorde
challenging
informative
reflective
slow-paced
if you read any book about social issues, let it be this one. lorde gives nuanced critique and confrontation of a huge variety of topics, from white feminism, anger, racism, homophobia, tokenism, intersectionality, capitalism, colonialism, raising boys, etc etc etc. her thoughts in the 80s are still hugely relevant today, and i can see how other authors have drawn on her ideas. it’s unfortunate that we are still discussing these same issues toddy, but if you want to hear someone speak well on these topics, please please read this book!
