Once again, I'm against the norm with this title. The whole time I read it, I kept thinking of early John Grisham fiction, especially [b:A Time to Kill|32542|A Time to Kill (Jake Brigance, #1)|John Grisham|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554303029l/32542._SY75_.jpg|1804929]. The book was so formulaic and full of preachy side notes meant to educate the dumb reader about what Jim Crow era Virginia was like. Is this book easy to read? Yes. Is it too skewed to popular fiction for me? Yes. Is this anything like what Baldacci usually writes? No. I feel like the reading level dropped a grade or two.
