I'm still not quite sure how I felt about this book. I've rounded up from 3.5 to 4, because I can appreciate what Plante was doing here, even if it didn't 100% work for me. The narrator sets out to write an encyclopedia of characters from the fictional TV show Little Blue, in honor of her best friend Vivian, who loved the show and has recently died. What follows is a heartwrenching, whimsical, sweet, and funny meditation on trans friendship, unrequited love, and the ways pop culture shaped it. I can see how it wouldn’t be for everyone, but it’s remarkably inventive, thoughtful, and quirky.
