Taylor Swift songs: “fearless (tv)”, this whole book is Debut and Fearless Tv coded!!
Age rating: 16+ (4 spicy scenes, 1.5/5🌶️)
This was such a quick, cute romance!! This was a great one to start my cowboy romance era. (Set in Wyoming) The FMC is a barrel racer and he’s a ranch hand/bar owner, and her brother’s best friend. I’m not a huge fan of the over-protective brother trope, but it wasn’t too bad. This story is really quick to get through, you could probably read it in one sitting! I do wish I read this in spring/summer instead of winter, but it is still fun nonetheless. There is so much chemistry, tension, pining, and sneaking around. It’s all around just good vibes!
I loved seeing the MMC help the FMC through her anxiety around getting back on the horse. (The book begins with her moving home because she got thrown off a horse/“dusted”, and she is anxious about getting back on a horse and having panic attacks when she tries). He is just so sweet, patient, and gentle with her, truly caring for her and doing everything he can to help her!! But he’s also such a brooding/bad boy with a dirty mouth, and we love that. I will also say that it does feel almost like “insta-love” but not in a bad way at all.
I will definitely be looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this interconnected series!!
