I didn't get the hype. Most of the stories were boring at best and deeply racist at worst. They just weren't that interesting. I can appreciate that Lovecraft was a foundational writer in sci fi/fantasy, but honestly I didn't find these stories impactful in any good way. Boring, racist, and very much a letdown. Lame.
