What Fresh Hell Is This?: Perimenopause, Menopause, Other Indignities, and You by Heather Corinna

4.0

A helpful book written in a fun, irreverent style, with lots of helpful scientific and historical information. It's very real, and sometimes feel a bit dire - "this all feels horrible!!!" She does not take a side on hormone therapy, which apparently is a fraught issue, she just shares information. There are lots of lists - symptoms, aggravating factors, ways to alleviate symptoms, etc. It did feel a bit long - I skimmed a lot. She shares a lot of her own experience too, as a non-gendered person, so the book is very inclusive of all kinds of bodies and hormonal backgrounds. I will probably be looking back on this book over the next ten (or twenty? Corinna cites data that some women take decades to go through these hormone changes!) years.
