1.5

If I could sum up by mood while reading this book it would be “annoyed”. Annoying characters, annoying writing style, annoying twists towards the end. I gave it 1.5 stars because despite how annoying it all was, I still found myself wanting to know how it turned out but lemme tell you it was not easy to make it to the end.

David gave me the ick right off the bat. If I walked into a first date and one of the first things a guy said to me is that he was already thinking of seeing me tomorrow, I’d be running at top speed from that level of neediness. No matter how much we were told how charming his jazz-splaining was, I just wanted Ameena to run far away from his patronising lectures and perception of her as his manic pixie dream girl.

There was barely a single piece of realistic dialogue throughout the whole book.

David and Ameena both came off as horribly judgmental and the entire tone of the book was one of pretentiousness.

I’m glad that’s over and I can leave David and Ameena in their misery
