This short-story is a prequel to the Illuminae series, and it’s worth reading! Sometimes prequels and novellas don’t really add a lot to the series they are based on, but that can’t be said about this one. The writers packed so much into this story, it was thrilling and tense, it had a touch of romance, and it had characters we cared about (including two new ones!) Plus, we gained a lot of insight into AIDEN (the AI featured heavily in the main trilogy), delving into it’s mind to learn more about its behaviour patterns and motivations.

P.S. if anyone knows why Olivia had strings around her fingers please let me know!
