Happy Place by Emily Henry

This was so sad I made time to keep reading until it was finished. These kinds of existential impasses and emotional dilemmas are so scaring and hard in real life that it doesn’t feel cathartic, just unfair to watch one tie up neatly at “the end”. Maybe that’s my own baggage but it felt like crossing a line to make it the setting for a romance, a story whose structure telegraphs the inevitable happy ending we come to the gene for. Idk. Everyone comes out a hero and that doesn’t ring true for the emotional gravity of the context.
