I have now read all of Grady Hendrix’s novels and am currently working through his non-fiction book Paperbacks from Hell. I can honestly say that I enjoyed all of his novels and absolutely LOVED pretty much all of them except this one. Now I didn’t hate this book, not by any means, I don’t think I could ever hate or dislike anything by Hendrix but this one I found hard to really connect with. 

Something about We Sold Our Souls just felt a little unfinished to me. I’m not a big metal fan but appreciated all the references to classic Viking metal and how the genre used to be. I enjoyed the story and the characters but the ending left a lot unexplained and I’m still wondering well what happened exactly?  

This was an entertaining read but I’d put it at the bottom of my Hendrix list and would recommend The Southern Bookclub’s guide to Slaying Vampires or My Best friends exorcism over this one. If you’re Hendrix fan like myself, of course you’re going to read this one but if you’re not already a Hendrix  junkie I’d let this one slide by.
