Just for the Summer

The story was wonderful and I definitely got invested in the characters. I loved that Minnesota was a character.
It’s truly baffling to me that Emma, a medical professional, has zero idea her mom is bipolar. “I don’t know what’s wrong with her” got reallllly old the fourth or fifth time Emma said it when it was super clear. Maybe the author wanted to skirt around it? But yeesh. I also would have loved to know more about Maddy. For such an important character we knew next to nothing about her. Also, this book had EVERYTHING under the sun going on which was kind of exhausting. Jail! A terrible mother! Sickness! Woof. Also, the amount of inane details about every single action a character took was too much.
