Not All Dead White Men: Classics and Misogyny in the Digital Age
by Donna Zuckerberg
A good overview of and introduction to the "manosphere" and some of the misogynistic groups in it. I was really happy to see a book like this, which focuses on how rhetoric and classical literature are used by these extremist groups to justify their own warped politics. From what I know, there aren't very many books out there about this part of the web, much less how their politics are intertwined with ancient Greek and Roman thought. As someone who isn't a classicist, I really appreciated the contextual information about these philosophers. That being said, I wish there had been more of a focus on the manosphere itself--a lot of this book is about the gender politics of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. This isn't a bad thing, but from the title and description, I did expect a bit more about the internet side of things.
