The Trial
by Franz Kafka
I didn't enjoy this as much as The Metamorphosis, but it's still a fantastic read. Somewhat heavy at times, which is to be expected, but not at all lengthy, this book is chilling. In it, truth and justice cease to exist in the conventional sense, with the theme being neatly summarized by the quote, "you don't need to accept everything as true, you only need to accept it as necessary." Highly recommended read.
