In Cold Blood
by Truman Capote
The birth of true crime they say?? The true storytelling of the Clutter family and the descent of their murderers. This book is so cool because it’s not a who-done-it and will they be caught but an incredibly intimate retelling of the gruesome details. There had to be a 1,000 foot mine shaft full of notes in Capote’s house in order to put this together and to do so in the form and feel of a literary classic is nothing but impressive. I’ve heard there’s quite the rabbit hole behind this story and Capote’s deep ties to it and I fully intend to launch myself down it. Awesome, awesome book (some of it was a slog). 3.75/5
