A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
5.0

i love me some Tennessee Williams. this was a slow descent into chaos, set in New Orleans, with its steamy and sultry atmosphere that you can almost feel when reading it. the heat, the sounds, the colours, the noises — his absolutely mindblowing stage directions are a sensory overload that makes you dive into the drama head first. two worlds collide in this play, Blanche Dubois, the fragile and fading southern belle carrying her desperate fantasies and uncomfortable secrets, and Stanley Kowalski, the raw embodiement of reality. i hate how the play ended, it literally broke my heart.
