I actually read this a year or two ago, and I remember thinking... it was okay? Maybe I'm becoming cynical in my old age, or maybe it's because I'm Asian and didn't think 'New Beijing' was handled that well, but while things were occasionally interesting in this book, I could see the way the plot was playing out way in advance (which I don't tend to like) and the characters/setting didn't grip me enough to read the rest of the series.
