Ruining Dahlia by C.R. Jane

5.0

This book ruined me in such a good way.

I love this book so much. I didn’t want it to end. I honestly don’t remember the last book I read where I loved all the main characters from the start. I couldn’t get enough of them, flaws and all.

This book is the Dahlia Butcher being sent to New York to marry Lucien Rossi who is in charge of the La Cosa Nostra. On her flight to the states, Dahlia meets a handsome gentleman who is her neighbor for the trip. She decides to get one last FU to the marriage treaty and has some airplane fun. What she doesn’t know is that man is her fiance's brother. The same night she meets his other brother Gabriel and he is instantly infatuated with her. I absolutely adored Gabriel from the start. The way he was so sweet to Dahlia and did whatever he could to make her happy. Lucien mostly hid from her. He was worried of what he would do around her so he kept himself distracted with work. I did love when he finally let go though and gave into his desire. I went from loving Raphael to wanting to stab him. The surprising thing was that I couldn’t hate him. I just couldn’t help but love the push and pull between him and Dahlia. I think out of all the guys he was able to relate to her the most and I love how he didn’t judge her but helped her embraced her pain.

One of my favorite things was that all the characters had demons. While some may have been different than others they helped bring them closer. My heart ached for all of them and to see them find each other and finally get some happiness was beautiful. Dahlia is definitely one of my favorite fmc. She is tough and hasn’t had a good life. But I loved that after everything she has been through she is still just a normal girl. Her blushing and awkwardness were adorable. Besides from the relationships I enjoyed the storyline too. It has a good mystery to it and I was actually surprised by who was behind everything. I know this book is a standalone but I’m dying for some bonus scenes or an extra eplioge or two. I seriously can’t get enough of these characters and their lives.
