Unlikely Animals by Annie Hartnett is a quirky book that is narrated by a sprit that lives is a graveyard, includes multiple animals including imaginary rabbits, bears fed by hand, a mail order Fox, and a dog named Moses. It is about a woman who comes home after losing her magical healing powers to help take care of her dying father, finds out her childhood best friend is missing, discusses drug addiction, includes an entire 5th grade class, hidden drugs and a miracle healing or two and a community theater presentation of Titanic the musical. Somehow the author intertwined a cornucopia of characters into funny and quirky situations none so outlandish that that could Not have happened, but spun a story that was throughly enjoyable to read.
